Sarandon has been present at multiple pro-Palestinian rallies, where she made statements such as, “There are a lot of people afraid of being Jewish at this time, and are getting a taste of what it feels like to be a Muslim in this country.” She also reposted a pro-Palestinian post from musician Roger Waters, who has faced criticism for his antisemitic remarks.
This incident follows a recent trend of talent agencies taking action against clients or agents who make public statements regarding the conflict in Israel. Just last month, CAA Co-Head Of Film Maha Dakhil resigned from the agency’s board after reposting an Instagram story that accused individuals of supporting genocide.
UTA’s decision to drop Sarandon as a client reflects the agency’s stance on controversial public remarks made by their talent. The agency has not provided further details on their decision.
