Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Unveils Two Demos and Final Trailer Before Launch

The renowned gaming company, Square Enix, has announced the availability of the much-awaited demo of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on PlayStation 5. This demo introduces players to the initial chapter of what is slated to be one of the most eagerly anticipated games of 2024. The demo is bifurcated into two separate parts, with the second part set to be released on February 21st. This allows players to get a sneak peek of the vast game world before the final version of the game is officially launched on February 29th, exclusively for the Sony console. This exciting news was divulged during a special Sony Interactive Entertainment State of Play session, dedicated entirely to the game. The State of Play event also featured the final trailer of the game, providing an outline of the storyline and characters, including the group’s mission to pursue Sephiroth in a bid to save their planet. The trailer also showcased new locations, minigames, and the comeback of familiar characters. In addition, a novel battle system that merges real-time action with strategic controls was revealed.

The demo, titled “Fall of a Hero in Nibelheim”, includes a comprehensive flashback section enabling players to revisit the Nibelheim Incident, a vital story mission that takes place five years prior to the game’s main events. Subsequently, on February 21, the demo will be updated with a new section named “Dawn of a New Era in Junon”, which offers enhanced exploration and combat opportunities. However, it is important to note that the progress achieved in this demo section will not be carried over to the full game, while steps present in the first demo can be bypassed in the full game. Players who complete the demo will be rewarded with bonuses that can be utilized in the full game, including a moogle lucky charm and a set of adventure items.

The presentation provided a comprehensive overview of the game’s features, including the methods of traversing the game world, new minigames and character interactions, which play a crucial role in the unfolding of the story. New insights on the protagonists and game mechanics, such as skill trees and the soundtrack, were also revealed. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is a sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake, which was highly acclaimed by critics and audiences alike upon its release in 2020. This new chapter aims to further broaden the storyline, taking players on a fresh adventure on the planet, with the ultimate goal of halting Sephiroth and rescuing the world. For those keen on delving deeper into the Final Fantasy VII universe, Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis is also accessible, a mobile role-playing game that introduces new narrative elements and allows the exploration of key events from the Final Fantasy VII timeline. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is set to launch on February 29, 2024.
