In South Delhi’s upscale Greater Kailash area, a shocking medical racket has been exposed, involving fake doctors and the deaths of several patients. Four individuals, including two doctors, a woman posing as a surgeon, and a laboratory technician, have been arrested in connection with the deaths of two patients who underwent surgeries at a clinic in the locality.
The Delhi Police announced the arrest of Dr. Neeraj Agarwal, his wife Pooja Agarwal, Dr. Jaspreet Singh, and former laboratory technician Mahender Singh. The investigation revealed that a patient named Asghar Ali was admitted to the clinic in 2022 for gallbladder treatment. Initially, Dr. Jaspreet, a qualified surgeon, was supposed to perform the surgery. However, just before the operation, Pooja and Mahendra replaced Dr. Jaspreet.
After the surgery, Mr. Ali experienced severe pain and was immediately rushed to Safdarjung Hospital, where he was declared dead upon arrival. The families of the patients alleged that Dr. Agarwal, who runs the Agarwal Medical Centre, and three others performed surgeries on multiple patients’ vital organs without following proper medical protocols. They also claimed that Dr. Agarwal, despite being a physician, performs surgeries based on fake documents.
Further investigation into the case revealed that since 2016, there have been at least nine complaints against Dr. Agarwal, Pooja, and the Agarwal Medical Centre. In all seven cases, patients died due to medical negligence. A medical board consisting of four doctors was called on November 1 to examine the medical centre, where they found numerous shortcomings and deficiencies. The investigation also uncovered Agarwal’s habit of falsifying documents related to patients’ treatment and surgery.
During the course of the investigation, the police discovered expired surgical blades, original prescription slips of numerous patients, checkbooks from 47 different banks, 54 ATM cards from various banks, passbooks from multiple post offices, and six POS terminal credit card machines at Agarwal’s residence and clinic.
This shocking incident has raised concerns about the safety and regulation of medical practitioners in the region. The authorities are now taking strict actions against those involved in this medical racket, ensuring that justice is served for the victims and their families.
