Private Schools Begin Process with December 15 Deadline

The registration process for nursery, KG, and Class I admissions has commenced in over 2,000 private schools in Delhi. While most schools are accepting online applications, a few still prefer traditional hard copies. The deadline for submitting application forms is December 15, and the initial list of selected candidates will be announced on January 12.

Following the publication of the first admission list, schools will address parental inquiries from January 13 to January 22, as stated in the notification. If parents wish to request age relaxation, they can contact the school’s head or principal and follow a manual application process. The selection process involves a point system where specific marks are assigned to each criterion. Proximity to the school holds the highest weightage, and some schools recommend using Google Maps for distance calculation due to potential inaccuracies in manual measurements.

Other criteria for admissions include considerations such as having siblings or alumni connections. Some schools even allocate points based on factors like being a firstborn, a female child, or having a single parent. Each school has the autonomy to define and assign marks for each criterion based on their discretion. Notably, parents’ educational qualifications, occupation, or financial status are not taken into account.

The age limits for admission are 3 to under 4 years for nursery, 4 to under 5 years for KG, and 5 to under 6 years for Class I. The Directorate of Education will directly administer admissions for the 25% quota reserved for economically weaker sections, disadvantaged students, and children with special needs. Specific details regarding this quota will be released at a later date.

Valid documents for proof of address include ration card or smart card in the parents’ names, domicile certificate of the child or parents, voter ID card of either parent, electricity bill, telephone bill, water bill, passport, and Aadhaar card or UID card issued in the name of either parent.
