Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has finally spoken up regarding the ongoing controversy surrounding Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra’s potential expulsion from the Lok Sabha. During an event in Kolkata, Banerjee revealed that Moitra’s expulsion is indeed being planned but believes that this situation will actually benefit her before the 2024 general election.
Banerjee’s statement comes after a long period of silence on her part regarding the controversy surrounding Moitra. The Trinamool MP has been accused of accepting a cash bribe of Rs 2 crore and luxury gift items from businessman Darshan Hiranandani in exchange for asking questions in Parliament.
The response to this statement is currently being awaited.
