Supreme Court Grills for Evidence in Hindenburg Case

The Supreme Court of India has posed challenging questions to the petitioners involved in a case related to a report funded by George Soros that targeted the Adani Group. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud questioned the credibility of foreign reports, stating, “Why must we take foreign reports as the truth? We are not rejecting the report, but we need proof. So what proof do you have against the Adani Group?” The report in question was produced by the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), which is backed by billionaire George Soros. It alleged insider trading within the Adani Group through investments from two foreign entities.

The Adani Group has strongly refuted these allegations, dismissing them as “recycled allegations” and a coordinated effort by Soros-funded interests, supported by a section of the foreign media, to resurrect the discredited “meritless Hindenburg report.” The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the capital markets regulator, also deemed the report unreliable, highlighting its origin as a “foreign non-profit (NGO).”

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing SEBI, echoed the court’s concerns, emphasizing the dangers of foreign reports influencing Indian policies. He questioned the actions of Indian agencies if they were to act solely based on such reports.

It is important to note that New Delhi Television is a subsidiary of AMG Media Networks Limited, which is a part of the Adani Group Company.
