Sources: BJP Commences Preparations for 2024 Elections with Emphasis on Bharat Sankalp Yatra

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has instructed union ministers to start preparing for the 2024 Lok Sabha election by participating in the Bharat Sankalp Yatra, a large-scale outreach campaign aimed at highlighting the government’s welfare schemes. During a meeting held on Tuesday night, the ministers were advised to establish grassroots connections with voters in their respective constituencies and participate in the yatra as organizers rather than VIPs. The Prime Minister emphasized that this yatra is the last opportunity to reach out to the public and beneficiaries of the government’s schemes.

The main objective of the Bharat Sankalp Yatra is to create a “viksit Bharat” or a developed India, and the Prime Minister urged the ministers to expand the reach of welfare measures to all eligible individuals, especially those below the poverty line. He also encouraged ministers to assure the public that the government will fulfill its promises. The meeting included a presentation from the Secretaries of the Agriculture and Information and Broadcasting ministries, who have been assigned to lead the yatra.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been actively working towards the 2024 election since June, when senior party leaders met to discuss strategies. The country has been divided into three zones – North, South, and East – for planning purposes. The North zone includes politically crucial states like Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, while the East includes battleground states like Bengal and Bihar. The South, where the BJP has historically struggled, includes Karnataka.

The Bharat Sankalp Yatra aims to showcase the government’s comprehensive approach, with the Agriculture Ministry focusing on the rural side of the campaign and the Information and Broadcasting Ministry spearheading the campaign’s outreach to urban areas. Over 2,500 performance vans will cover 2.55 lakh gram panchayats and clusters across India, showcasing different government schemes. Ground activities will include interactions with beneficiaries, celebrations of Gram Panchayat achievements, quiz competitions, and health camps. The yatra was launched by PM Modi on November 15 and will conclude on January 25.

In addition to the yatra, Prime Minister Modi also provided instructions to his ministers regarding the upcoming winter session of Parliament, urging them to be prepared to answer questions from opposition MPs during Question Hour. The winter session is set to begin on December 4.
