Thirteen schools in Bengaluru were evacuated on Friday morning after receiving bomb threats via email, according to the police. The email claimed that explosives had been planted on the school premises. In response, the police were immediately notified and commenced a search for any suspicious objects. Bomb disposal squads were dispatched to all the schools that received the threat, including those in Whitefield, Koremangala, Basveshnagar, Yalahanka, and Sadashivanagar.
A senior police officer stated, “The email claimed that explosives had been planted on school premises. We received a call from the command centre and immediately rushed our teams to schools which are located in different parts of the city. All students and staff have been safely evacuated from the school premises, and a thorough search operation is being carried out.” This information was reported by news agency PTI.
In light of the bomb threat, one of the schools issued an advisory to parents, informing them about the situation. The advisory emphasized the school’s commitment to the safety of their children and announced the immediate dispersal of students.
It is worth noting that last year, seven schools in Bengaluru also received similar bomb threats, but they were ultimately determined to be hoaxes, as confirmed by the police.
