Singh smashed 46 runs off just 29 deliveries, impressing the crowd with his brilliant shots. However, it was his switch-hit off the bowling of Matthew Short that stole the show. In the 12th over of the India innings, Singh executed a perfect switch-hit, hitting a massive six over third-man. The stadium erupted in celebration, and India skipper Suryakumar Yadav’s expression captured the moment, quickly going viral on social media.
Left-arm spinner Axar Patel, who was ignored for the upcoming assignment in South Africa, responded with exceptional figures of 3/16, helping India secure a 20-run victory over Australia. This win marked India’s fifth consecutive T20I series triumph.
Singh’s aggressive knock, combined with Jitesh Sharma’s 35 off 19 balls, propelled India to 174 for nine after being put in to bat by Australia. However, the visitors managed to pull things back, taking five wickets for just seven runs in the last two overs, thanks to Ben Dwarshuis (3/40) and Jason Behrendorff (2/32).
In response, Australia could only reach 154 for seven in their 20 overs, handing India an unassailable 3-1 lead in the series with one match remaining. Matthew Wade top-scored for Australia with an unbeaten 36 off 23 balls. Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi were the standout bowlers for India, conceding only 33 runs in eight overs and taking four wickets collectively.
The absence of dew made the target of 175 defendable for India, unlike in previous matches. Both spinners bowled with accuracy and kept the ball in the right areas, causing trouble for the Australian batsmen.
