Prominent Rajput Leader Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi Shot Dead at Home, Jaipur Bandh Called in Protest
Supporters of the well-known Rajput leader Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi have called for a ‘Jaipur bandh’ (city-wide shutdown) today following his shocking murder in his own house. They have also threatened to escalate the protest to a statewide shutdown if immediate action is not taken.
CCTV footage revealed that Gogamedi, who was the leader of a fringe group called Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, was shot dead by three men who had just shared tea with him in his living room. In a Facebook post, gangster Rohit Godara, who has close ties to the gangs of Goldie Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi, took responsibility for the murder.
During the attack, Gogamedi and two of his associates sustained bullet injuries and were rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, doctors declared Gogamedi dead upon arrival. In a subsequent gunfight, one of the attackers was also shot dead by Gogamedi’s aides, according to the police.
The sensational murder of the Rajput leader has sparked widespread protests in Rajasthan, which is currently undergoing a regime change after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) defeated the Congress in the recent assembly elections. In response to the incident, Gogamedi’s supporters have blocked the Shipra Path road outside the hospital and are demanding the immediate arrest of the accused. Protests have also erupted in districts such as Churu, Udaipur, Alwar, and Jodhpur.
Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi founded Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena in 2015 after splitting from Rajput Karni Sena, which was then led by Lokendra Singh Kalvi. Both organizations had previously protested against the 2018 movie ‘Padmaavat,’ accusing it of distorting historical facts about the Rajput community.
