Vitor Roque’s Suspension Upheld, Ruled Out for Barcelona Match

In a recent resolution signed on Wednesday (7), the Competition Commission of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) declined the request to suspend the second yellow card issued to the striker. This card was given to Victor Roque during Barcelona’s victorious match against Alavés, which ended in a 3-1 score, last Saturday (3). The match was a part of the Spanish Championship series.

The Commission stated that the visual evidence provided by Barcelona did not clearly demonstrate a significant material error. The existence of a physical contact was evident. They found no clear evidence that could prove that the player who received the warning did not perform the action that led to the issuance of the card. This statement was a part of the text that upheld the decision to apply the second yellow card.

The defense team of Barcelona argued that there was no valid reason for the match referee to assume that the Brazilian player had made a reckless move that could warrant a card.

Following this decision, Barcelona’s legal department declared that they would appeal to the Court of Appeal. They aim to cancel the suspension so that they can include the Brazilian striker in the next round of the Spanish Championship.

Currently ranked in the third position, Barcelona has a total of 50 points. Real Madrid, leading the competition with 58 points, is followed closely by Girona with 56 points. Barcelona aims to narrow this gap in the upcoming match against Granada, which is to be held on Sunday.
