The esteemed Prado Museum has announced its grand reopening on the 2nd of March, with extended visiting hours from 8.30pm to 11.30pm. The museum is excited to continue its much-anticipated initiative, ‘Prado by night’, once again this year. This initiative has been a popular attraction for both locals and tourists, offering an intriguing and unique experience to explore the museum under the enchanting night sky.
In a statement released by the Prado Museum, it was revealed that on this first opening evening, visitors will be treated to a special viewing of the “Reversos” exhibition. In addition to this, the museum will also showcase an array of European Renaissance paintings, as well as rooms dedicated to its rich 19th-century collection. These carefully curated displays will be the main highlight of the night, offering guests an immersive and educational experience.
Furthermore, the ‘El Prado at night’ event will also feature several musical initiatives, adding to the vibrant and cultural atmosphere of the night. Visitors will also have the unique opportunity to discover some of the innovative experiences that have been developed through the 10-year long collaboration between Samsung and the Prado Museum. This successful partnership began in 2023 and culminated in July of the same year, with a shared vision to make the museum accessible to all. As stated by the art gallery, just offering free admission, as is done by the Prado newspaper, is not enough. It’s equally important to offer visiting hours that are compatible with the working or educational schedules of the majority.
Adding to the event’s appeal, the Prado Museum has also announced that its café service will be open during the event. This will allow visitors to further enhance their museum experience by enjoying a cup of coffee or a bite to eat. To make the event even more accessible, tickets for this period will be completely free of charge, with the last entry being at 11pm. This is yet another step by the Prado Museum in its mission to make art and culture accessible to everyone.
