Details of the Pope’s Upcoming Visit to Venice Art Biennale
It has been announced by the Archbishopric of Venice and the Vatican Dicastery for Culture and Education that Pope Francis is set to visit the well-renowned Venice Art Biennale. This anticipated visit is scheduled for Sunday, the 28th of April.
Additional Itinerary
While the official program is still yet to be confirmed by the Holy See Press Office, there are tentative plans for Pope Francis to extend his visit beyond the Biennale. Included in these plans is a visit to the Giudecca Women’s Prison, as well as a scheduled meeting with the ecclesiastical community of Venice. This is in keeping with the Pope’s consistent commitment to social outreach.
The Vatican Pavilion: A Beacon for Human Rights and Social Justice
The Vatican pavilion, which is a key focus of the Pope’s visit, is dedicated to human rights and the upliftment of the poor and marginalized in society. As explained by the Vatican Dicastery for Culture and Education – the main promoter of the Holy See’s participation in the Venice Art Biennale –, the pavilion serves as a platform to promote the construction of a culture of encounter. This is aligned with the central axis of the teaching profession of Pope Francis, highlighting the importance of dialogue, understanding, and mutual respect in our global society.
