A recent survey has revealed a rather intriguing belief held by a considerable portion of the US population. The study shows that nearly one out of every five US citizens are convinced that popular musician Taylor Swift is operating behind the scenes to ensure that the current US President Joe Biden secures a second term in office. This survey was conducted and published by Monmouth University, located in the state of New Jersey. The data, released on Wednesday (local time), indicates that 18 percent of the American populace believes in the existence of such a conspiracy. It is noteworthy to remind that the United States will be electing a new head of state on November 5th.
In the midst of the population that believes in this conspiracy, the survey sheds light on their political inclinations. The majority of them, 71 percent to be exact, are supporters of the Republican Party, and an even larger portion, 83 percent, are supporters of ex-US President Donald Trump. However, the surveyors at the university made a fascinating observation that nearly half, precisely 42 percent, of the surveyed individuals who believe in this conspiracy were unaware of its existence until they were engaged for this particular survey.
Simultaneously, the survey also showcased the support Taylor Swift receives from the public in her call for political participation. More than two-thirds of the surveyed individuals, amounting to 68 percent, expressed their support for Swift’s advocacy for fan participation in the presidential election this year. In an overall sense, 39 percent of Americans hold a positive opinion of the pop artist, with more than a quarter (28 percent) even identifying themselves as fans. Only a small fraction, 13 percent, view Swift in a negative light, while 43 percent claimed neutrality, expressing no particular opinion about the singer.
The survey, conducted by Monmouth University, involved telephonic interviews with 902 American adults. These interviews took place over a span of four days, from February 8th to February 12th.
