Honor, the leading tech company, has recently showcased its new multi-scenario strategy that leverages the power of artificial intelligence (AI). This innovative strategy paves the way for collaborative operations across devices running on different operating systems. The launch of this strategy is marked by the introduction of the MagicBook Pro 16 laptop and the MagicOS 8.0 software for smartphones.

Unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2024, MagicOS 8.0 is Honor’s proprietary software based on Android 14. This software serves as the gateway to an intelligent ecosystem that harnesses the power of the latest AI technology. It centralizes the user within an interaction matrix designed around user intention.

Understanding User Intent

MagicOS 8.0 is engineered to learn from the user’s usage patterns of the device and applications. It comprehends their intent and facilitates action completion in fewer steps. In essence, it accelerates the transition from one app to another, accomplishing it in a single step, within a single second.

Semantics and Personal Habits

To achieve this, the software comprehends the semantics of the content, identifies keywords that align with the user’s personal habits and scrutinizes their intentions with respect to certain actions. This allows it to make predictions that apply to services and applications.

Honor’s Own Language Model: MagicLM

In addition to the aforementioned features, Honor has also developed its own language model named MagicLM. This model operates AI on the device itself. This unique capability is bolstered by Qualcomm’s Hexagon neural processing unit. This enables new functions such as hand, voice, and eye interaction, as well as new tools for video and photography editing.

Ensuring Information Security

By running AI on the device, it assures the security of information through local encryption. It also enhances privacy by preventing data from leaving the computer. Cloud execution is limited to specific cases, such as vertical distribution of services, access to general knowledge, and big data.

Honor’s new flagship smartphone, the Magic6 Pro, comes with MagicOS 8.0 and its intent-based interface. The smart Magic Capsule feature expands the notification bar to offer additional information and useful options to the user.

Magic Portal: Simplifying Complex Tasks

Magic Portal, another feature in the smartphone, uses AI to understand the context of messages and simplify complex tasks. For example, it recognizes addresses and directs you to Google Maps. It also facilitates image-based shopping experiences, taking the user to the platforms where they can find the item of interest. This function is supported by more than a hundred applications.

Integration with Meta’s Open Source Language Model

In addition, Honor has discussed the potential opportunities provided by the integration of Meta’s open source language model, Llama, in the Magic6 Pro. This allows AI to perform functions such as question and answer, text creation, and reading comprehension in an offline environment.

Experimental Concept: Hands-Free Car Control

Honor has also highlighted an experimental concept that allows users to control a car hands-free using the Magic6 Pro’s AI-based eye tracking system.
