Ducati Renews Contract with Bagnaia Until 2026

The Ducati team has officially announced the renewal of the contract with two-time MotoGP world champion, Francesco ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia, which will extend until the end of 2026. This news came just days before the commencement of the 2024 MotoGP season, as Ducati Corse and Francesco Bagnaia formalized their ongoing collaboration by signing an agreement. This deal ensures the continuation of a successful partnership that blends Italian excellence in technology, performance, and talent. The Desmosedici GP motorcycle and Bagnaia’s passion, talent, and determination have proven to be a winning combination.

Bagnaia, born in Turin in 1997 and currently residing in Pesaro, first joined the Ducati team in 2019 through Pramac Racing. With the extension of his contract, he further solidifies his place in the history of the Borgo Panigale company. Bagnaia became the second rider to have an eight-year stint with Ducati. He first made waves in 2020 when he claimed his first MotoGP podium in his home race at Misano Adriatico. In 2021, he earned a promotion to the official team and nearly clinched the world title in his first year with the red Ducati Lenovo Team, ending the season in second place after a thrilling finale.

The year 2022 marked Bagnaia’s rise to prominence, as he won his first riders’ title in MotoGP. He also became the first Italian to win the title while riding an Italian motorcycle, specifically the Desmosedici GP. This achievement also marked the second world riders’ title for Ducati, with the previous one being won by Casey Stoner in 2007, a full 15 years prior. Sporting the number 1 on the front fairing, Bagnaia managed to defend his World Champion title in 2023, after an awe-inspiring season that saw him secure 15 podiums, 7 victories, and 7 pole positions.

Following the renewal of his contract, an elated Bagnaia shared, “I’m overjoyed to be able to continue racing with the team of my dreams! Wearing these colors is an honor for me. It’s an incredible feeling and a source of immense pride. Together with Ducati, my team, and all the Ducati Corse guys, we have managed to achieve some incredible feats. In the next three years (including 2024) that we will be spending together, we will continue to give our all to try and achieve as many victories as possible. I am thrilled and eager to hit the track in a few days in Qatar for the first race of the year.”
