A 24-year-old Indian student is in critical condition after being stabbed in the state of Indiana in the United States, as per a media report. The victim, Varun, was attacked by Jordan Andrad, 24, with a knife at a public gym in Valparaiso, Indiana on Sunday morning. The motive behind the attack is still under investigation. The assailant has been arrested and is facing charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and attempted murder.
Varun suffered a severe injury to his temple and was rushed to a Fort Wayne hospital. The severity of his condition led to a low chance of survival, reportedly ranging from zero to five percent. His condition remains serious after the violent attack, according to the report.
Andrade, the attacker, told the police that he had requested a massage that morning and walked into the massage room where he encountered Varun, whom he found “a little weird” but did not know. Per a charging document, Andrade perceived Varun as a threat and claimed to have reacted in self-defense.
