A lawsuit has been filed against a McDonald’s restaurant in Harbor City, Los Angeles after a 13-year-old girl was attacked by a woman inside the establishment. The mother of the girl is suing both the suspect and the restaurant, claiming that McDonald’s failed to provide a safe environment for its customers. The incident, which was captured on video, occurred on September 6 when Ariana Lauifi, 32, punched and kicked the girl in front of witnesses and McDonald’s staff. The attack only stopped when another person intervened and pulled Lauifi away. The girl suffered injuries to her face and emotional trauma as a result. Lauifi was arrested weeks later and is facing charges of felony child abuse. The family’s attorney, Toni Jaramilla, stated that the attack was unprovoked and accused McDonald’s staff of not coming to the girl’s aid. However, the franchisee of the restaurant denies these claims, stating that employees called the police when the fight broke out and cooperated with the investigation. The civil lawsuit, seeking unspecified damages, is set to be filed on Monday. The news conference announcing the lawsuit was attended by the victim and her mother, who expressed their hope for justice to be served.
