England Great Michael Vaughan’s Epic Response to Mohammed Hafeez’s Controversial Indirect Dig

Former Pakistan all-rounder Mohammed Hafeez and ex-England captain Michael Vaughan recently engaged in a Twitter battle over India batter Virat Kohli’s century against South Africa in the Cricket World Cup 2023. Kohli’s century was his 49th ODI hundred, equaling a record. However, Hafeez labeled Kohli as “selfish” for his knock. In response, Vaughan mocked Hafeez by reminding him that he was clean bowled by Kohli during the T20 World Cup in 2012.

Continuing the banter, Hafeez took an indirect dig at Vaughan on Twitter, saying, “Talk sense to a fool and he calls u foolish…”. Not one to back down, Vaughan replied, “Just realized why you are so good at throwing out Tweets” accompanied by a picture.

Earlier, former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir praised Kohli for equaling Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI centuries. However, he also pointed out that Kohli’s slow pacing towards the end of his innings could have been problematic for India if the situation was different. Kohli struggled to hit boundaries on a challenging surface, which could have affected India’s chances. Nevertheless, India, led by Rohit Sharma, won the match against South Africa by a comfortable margin of 243 runs.

The Twitter war between Hafeez and Vaughan adds an entertaining element to the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023.
