Tech billionaire Peter Thiel, known for his affiliation with Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign, has announced that he will not be financially supporting Trump or any other candidate in the upcoming election. In an interview with The Atlantic, Thiel described his vote for Trump in 2016 as a desperate cry for help rather than a well-articulated decision. Despite donating $1.25 million to Trump’s campaign in 2016 and speaking on his behalf at the Republican National Convention, Thiel expressed disappointment in the outcome of Trump’s presidency. He acknowledged his own misjudgments, stating that the government’s dysfunction exceeded his expectations and posed more danger than anticipated. While Thiel claimed to have no regrets about his past support for Trump, he confirmed that he did not contribute to Trump’s campaign in 2020 and has no plans to support him or any other candidate in the 2024 election. Thiel revealed that Trump reached out to him earlier this year, requesting a $10 million donation, equivalent to the amount Thiel had given to candidates Blake Masters and J. D. Vance for their Senate races. Thiel declined the request and learned later that Trump had referred to him as a derogatory term. For the full profile, click here.
