Maryanne Trump Barry’s legal career began when she was appointed to the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey in 1983 by then-President Ronald Reagan. She later received another appointment to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit by then-President Bill Clinton in 1999. However, Maryanne retired from her position in 2019 amidst an investigation into allegations of fraudulent tax and financial transactions involving her father, Fred Trump, and her siblings. Eventually, the investigation was closed.
