Mount Clemens Court Interrupted as Sex Offender Faces Charges for Public Indecency

A convicted sex offender, Scott Shultz, has been arrested in Mount Clemens, Michigan, for attempting to break into several homes in a neighborhood. During his arraignment in court, Schultz interrupted the proceedings to explain his mission, stating that he had to complete it by the end of the year due to being tethered. However, the prosecutor quickly interrupted him and asked him to reserve his comments.

Schultz is facing charges of three counts of attempted home invasion and indecent exposure. Police have identified him as a habitual offender with previous incidents of indecent exposure. Cmdr. Jason Abro of the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office expressed concern over the alarming information that emerged during the investigation, stating that Schultz’s motives and actions were troubling. He added that they were relieved Schultz was in custody and that a half-million dollar bond had been set, emphasizing that he should not be on the streets.

The incidents occurred on Market Street in Mount Clemens on Tuesday, and surveillance footage from a doorbell camera captured Schultz’s presence. When he failed to gain entry into the homes, he allegedly exposed himself and engaged in undisclosed actions. Abro commented on the situation, stating that it was frightening to consider what Schultz’s motives would have been if the doors had been unlocked.

Attorney Caitlin Sahlaney, representing Schultz, suggested that the attempted home invasions were driven by a desire for sexual gratification. Police are grateful that the residents’ doors were locked, preventing further harm. Additionally, investigators suspect that a similar incident may have occurred at a local church and are currently investigating the matter.

Schultz is being held on a $500,000 bond. The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information about Schultz’s activities in the area to contact them.
