Family of Four Found Dead in Decomposed State in Bengal Flat

The decomposed bodies of a family of four were discovered in their apartment in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, according to police reports. The bodies were found on Sunday after neighbors reported a foul smell emanating from the flat. The police suspect that the man, identified as Brindaban Karmakar, poisoned his family members before taking his own life. Mr. Karmakar’s body was found hanging from the ceiling, while his wife, 17-year-old daughter, and 8-year-old son were found in different areas of the apartment.

A local Trinamool Congress leader stated that the incident came to light when the building’s water pump operator went to Mr. Karmakar’s flat for a set of keys. After receiving no response and detecting a strong odor, he alerted the police who subsequently broke open the door and discovered the four bodies. The Trinamool Congress leader mentioned that he had seen Mr. Karmakar the day after Kali Pujo but did not suspect anything unusual.

The police found a suicide note in the apartment, in which Mr. Karmakar claimed that his wife was involved in an extramarital affair and he could not bear it, leading him to take such a drastic step. A forensic team has visited the scene, and further investigation is ongoing.
