Controversial influencer Andrew Tate has pledged financial support to Elon Musk’s platform X, after several major companies withdrew their advertisements due to Musk’s reposting of an antisemitic remark. Tate, known for his derogatory remarks about women, was arrested in Romania on rape and human trafficking charges in December 2022. Despite his controversial reputation, Tate has been a longtime supporter of Musk, and the billionaire reinstated him on X when he took over the company in October 2022. Since then, Tate claims to have earned a significant amount under Musk’s content-creator plan. However, the recent backlash against Musk’s posts has led to major brands like Disney, Apple, and IBM pausing their advertising on X. Musk stood firm in his opinions, denying any antisemitic intentions and labeling the advertisers as oppressors of free speech. Nonetheless, his stance has garnered support from right-wing figures, including Seth Dillon and Tim Pool. Tate joined in expressing his support and pledged to fund Musk’s advertising needs himself, offering $1 million per month. However, doubts have been raised about Tate’s actual wealth, as he has previously claimed to be a trillionaire, but investigations suggest his assets are worth around £10 million ($12.4 million).
