Adobe has officially launched Photoshop for the web at Code Conference 2023, following more than a year of beta testing. The web version of Photoshop is now available, but it appears to be replacing the limited free web version that the company had been testing in certain markets since June 2022.
During the announcement at the Code Conference, Ashley Still, Adobe’s senior vice president, explained that Photoshop on the web can be accessed through any browser. Users can not only create and edit images within the browser, but they can also open any file that has ever been created through Photoshop, regardless of its age.
Additionally, Photoshop on the web offers generative artificial intelligence tools powered by Adobe’s Firefly generative AI, including Generative Fill and Generative Expand. These tools enable users to expand an image beyond its original dimensions and fill in the edges. The web version also includes other features, such as object removal, similar to the Magic Eraser tool on the Google Pixel.
