Arizona Police Report Coyote Attack on 4-Year-Old Girl in Front Yard: Victim recounts harrowing experience – “I just got bit”

A 4-year-old girl in Mesa, Arizona, was bitten by a coyote while playing in her front yard, according to local police. Fortunately, the girl’s injuries were not severe, as confirmed in a news release by the police. The incident occurred at 9:15 a.m. on Friday, November 10. The girl’s father, Jordan Brough, recounted the incident, stating that his daughter, Blair, screamed and ran inside after being bitten on the hip by the dangerous animal. She required stitches for her wound. At the time, the girl was playing with her siblings in the front yard, as reported by KPNX.

Police were able to locate and shoot the coyote at 10:30 a.m. The animal’s body will be subjected to testing for diseases, including rabies. Alexandra Flickinger from the Arizona Game and Fish Department stated that they also collected the child’s clothes for DNA analysis to confirm if it was indeed the offending coyote. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported in the incident.

Mesa, which is located approximately 20 miles east of Phoenix, was the site of this unusual encounter. This incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers that can arise when humans and wildlife come into contact.
