Canoo American Bulldog Introduces Exciting Upgrades to their Lifestyle Pickup

Canoo Unveils American Bulldog Pickup Truck Variant

Canoo, the electric vehicle startup, has unveiled a new variant of its electric pickup truck called the American Bulldog. The company, known for its innovative designs and reasonable prices, hopes to find success with this new addition to its lineup.

The American Bulldog pickup truck is a civilian version of the Screaming Eagle Light Tactical Vehicle that Canoo delivered to the U.S. Army for evaluation in December of last year. While the press release emphasizes the vehicle’s strength and performance, it remains unclear how Canoo plans to position this model in the market.

The American Bulldog has been showcased at various trade shows, with Canooers posting about it when it was still referred to as a pickup truck during the National Guard Association of the U.S. General Conference and Exhibition in August.

From the pictures, it can be seen that the American Bulldog features new light bars on the front, giving it a cool look. The crossbars also appear to be customizable, potentially allowing for additional lighting or racks. The wheels on the American Bulldog are smaller compared to the original model, but they are wrapped in taller tires. The elevated fender flares provide more room between the wheel and cab, likely due to a suspension lift. Furthermore, the civvy truck has a different attachment system for the bedsides and offers extra cab space, eliminating the external storage spaces found on the original model.

While specific details about the American Bulldog are scarce, Canoo previously listed its truck as having a combined 600 horsepower from a dual-motor AWD drivetrain, with an estimated range of 200 miles from an 80-kilowatt-hour battery.

These are crucial times for Canoo as they recently announced their Q3 earnings, reporting a loss of $112 million for the three months ending on September 30, and a total loss of $273.6 million for the first three quarters of the year. However, the Q3 loss has significantly narrowed compared to Q2, and the losses are smaller compared to the same period in 2022. Canoo also secured a potential investment deal worth up to $150 million in early October. Additionally, the company has received significant orders from Walmart and has recently delivered its first LDV cargo vans as part of a contract with the state of Oklahoma. Canoo has also filed homologation papers with the NHTSA for a range of vans and pickups. Notably, all the pickups feature steel roofs.

As Canoo navigates these critical months, the success of the American Bulldog variant could play a pivotal role in the company’s future.
