A Texas security guard, David Tupper, has come under fire on social media after a video went viral showing him using racist slurs against a Black woman, Denishia Lewis. The incident occurred on October 19 at a 7-Eleven in Stafford, Texas. Lewis claims that she honked her horn at Tupper, expecting him to move, but when he didn’t, she maneuvered her car around him. Tupper allegedly caught up to her on his motorcycle, punched her side mirror, and then entered the 7-Eleven. Lewis followed him inside to confront him about the damage to her mirror housing, which is when the video was recorded.
In the video, Tupper can be heard calling Lewis racial slurs, including the N-word, as well as derogatory terms like “stupid n—r,” “monkey,” and “coon.” The video quickly gained attention on social media, with many users, including some celebrities, tracking down Tupper’s Instagram account. To their surprise, they discovered that Tupper appears to be in a relationship with a Black woman, which led to further criticism and disbelief.
The security company Tupper worked for, Verintegra Security and Investigations, released a statement stating that he no longer works for them and ended his employment a few months ago in August. Tupper had also previously worked for the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, as evidenced by a picture on his Instagram. However, there is no information available regarding his current employment status or any comments from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office regarding the incident.
The Stafford Police Department, located several miles away from Johnson County, stated that they are still investigating the incident. The public is awaiting updates on any potential charges or legal actions against Tupper. Meanwhile, Lewis’s video and the subsequent backlash serve as a reminder of the ongoing issue of racism and the impact it has on individuals and communities.
