Florida Attorney Accused of Abusing a Young Boy

Ocala Lawyer Suspended by State Supreme Court for Raping and Assaulting a Minor

An Ocala area lawyer, Jason Volkman, has been suspended by the state Supreme Court for his heinous crimes against a minor. Volkman, 50 years old, is currently facing disbarment, which is the expected consequence for someone convicted on 44 felony counts and a misdemeanor. He began serving a 30-year sentence on October 9 after pleading no contest to several charges, including sexual battery, delivery of opiates, video voyeurism, possession of photos of a child sexual performance, promoting a sexual performance by a child, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

According to an arrest report by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the victim, a 12-to-18-year-old boy, needed a safe place to stay after being abused by his stepfather. As a friend of one of Volkman’s children, he sought refuge with Volkman’s family. However, instead of providing a safe environment, Volkman took advantage of the vulnerable young boy.

The victim reported that Volkman would ply him with Captain Morgan-and-Sam’s Club Cola cocktails, attempting to get him drunk. While the boy slept on the couch, Volkman sexually abused him. Whenever the victim resisted Volkman’s advances, the lawyer would threaten to return him to his abusive mother.

In addition to the sexual assault, the boy also disclosed that he asked for Tylenol to alleviate his migraine headaches. Shockingly, Volkman provided him with Vicodin, a prescription drug containing the powerful opioid hydrocodone, instead.

The victim’s friend later showed the police a photo of a suspicious phone charger in the bathroom, which Volkman’s children suspected was a hidden camera. When the victim found a matching stock photo of the charger on Amazon, it was revealed to be a “Kaposev 2K hidden spy camera,” a motion-activated portable wireless charger power bank nanny cam.

These disturbing incidents occurred in July 2021, and Volkman was arrested on February 24, 2022. He is scheduled to remain in custody until May 4, 2052.

The state Supreme Court’s decision to suspend Volkman’s law license is an important step in ensuring accountability for his reprehensible actions. The court’s action sends a strong message that such behavior will not be tolerated within the legal profession.
