Identity of Woman Killed in Wednesday’s Fatal Palm Desert Crash Revealed

A 51-year-old woman named Monica Villareal from Coachella has been identified as the victim of a fatal car accident in Palm Desert. The incident occurred on Wednesday night when Villareal ran a red light and collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Portola Avenue and Fred Waring Drive. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene after receiving a report of a two-vehicle collision at 9:46 p.m.

According to Wenndy Brito-Gonzalez, a public information officer for the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, there is no suspicion of drugs or alcohol being involved in the crash. Brito-Gonzalez explained that a preliminary investigation found that Villareal’s Nissan Sentra had disregarded the red light and crashed into a Dodge van. Villareal was immediately taken to a local hospital, where she was sadly pronounced dead.

Fortunately, the driver of the Dodge van escaped the collision without any injuries. As the investigation is still ongoing, no further details regarding the incident have been released at this time.
