Indonesia Responds to Israel’s Accusations, Confirms Gaza Hospital Support for Palestinians

Indonesia Hospital in Gaza Serving Palestinians, Denies Israeli Accusations

The foreign ministry of Indonesia has responded to accusations made by the Israeli military, stating that the purpose of the Indonesia Hospital in Gaza is to fully serve the Palestinians. The Israeli military has claimed that Hamas has been using hospitals to launch attacks, alleging the existence of tunnels, command centers, and rocket launchers beneath and adjacent to hospitals in northern Gaza.

Hamas has denied these allegations and accused Israel of spreading lies. The Indonesian foreign ministry released a statement clarifying that the Indonesia Hospital in Gaza was built by Indonesians for humanitarian purposes and to cater to the medical needs of Palestinians. The hospital is operated by Palestinian authorities with the assistance of a small number of Indonesian volunteers.

The ministry further emphasized that the hospital is currently overwhelmed with patients, exceeding its capacity. Sarbini Abdul Murad, the chairman of MER-C, the voluntary group that funded the hospital, confirmed that the facility has run out of fuel and is struggling to cope.

Sarbini also refuted Israel’s accusations, dismissing them as a ploy to justify an attack on the Indonesian hospital. Indonesia, being the most populous Muslim country in the world, has called for an immediate ceasefire and has provided humanitarian aid to Gaza.

According to health officials in Gaza, over 9,770 Palestinians have been killed in the ongoing conflict since Hamas initiated a cross-border assault on October 7th. This assault resulted in the death of 1,400 people and the capture of more than 240 hostages.

The situation remains tense as both sides continue to exchange accusations and engage in hostilities.
