Israeli Forces Destroy Hamas Tunnels in Northern Gaza
Israeli forces continue their mission to locate and destroy Hamas’ extensive tunnel network in northern Gaza. The network, which Hamas leaders claim is hundreds of miles long and full of traps, poses a major threat to Israeli ground forces as they advance deeper into the Strip. In a recent operation, Israeli combat engineers discovered a tunnel just a few yards away from a civilian home. The soldiers dropped a camera down the 15-meter shaft to investigate its contents. The search for the tunnels has been prompted by an ambush on Friday, where Hamas fighters emerged from a tunnel to attack Israeli soldiers before retreating back into the tunnel. Israeli forces have also been dealing with the threat of drones, as Hamas has been using them to drop explosives on Israeli soldiers. Israeli tanks now have a grated metal canopy to protect them from drone attacks. The fate of hostages held by Hamas is also a concern for Israeli troops, as they have yet to find any sign of them in the tunnels. The search for and destruction of the tunnels remains a top priority for Israeli forces as they continue their mission in Gaza.
