Late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel recently poked fun at US House Speaker Mike Johnson for his unusual parenting approach, specifically his close monitoring of his son’s porn-watching habits. In a video clip that resurfaced, Johnson revealed his use of “accountability software” to track his then 17-year-old son’s internet activity and share it with his accountability partner.
Kimmel, during his show Jimmy Kimmel Live, discussed this parenting style, saying, “They use something called ‘accountability software,’ which tracks the internet activity on your computer, your phone, your iPad, etc., and shares it with your accountability partner.” He then jokingly offered to be Johnson’s “porn accountability partner,” stating that he is open-minded and non-judgmental about any interests or preferences Johnson may have.
The incident in question occurred in 2022 when Johnson participated in a panel titled “War on Technology” at a church in Louisiana. The congressman mentioned his use of Covenant Eyes, a software that scans all electronic devices and provides a weekly report to his 17-year-old son, acting as his accountability partner.
Since the video resurfaced, Kimmel took the opportunity to mock Johnson’s parenting approach and offer his own services as an accountability partner. Johnson had previously stated that his son had a clean slate during the panel discussion.
It remains to be seen how Johnson will respond to Kimmel’s offer.
