Man Discovers Melted Ballpoint Pen Inside Supermarket Apple Pie

A recent incident has left a number of customers taken aback and questioning the quality of the products they purchase. According to a report by the local daily Sud Ouest on Tuesday, February 13, an individual residing in Dordogne had the most unfortunate experience of discovering a ballpoint pen inside an apple pie he had bought from a supermarket on January 23.

The individual, Lilian, who resides in Léguillac-de-l’Auche, had gone on his routine visit to the supermarket located in the neighboring town of Saint-Astier for his groceries. It was here that he purchased an apple pie, an industrial product delivered in an aluminum mold. To his utter surprise, while consuming the pie, he discovered an orange pen wedged between the dough and the mold. The plastic of the pen appeared to be slightly distorted due to the heat. Initially, Lilian thought it was a bean that had been mistakenly slipped into the pie, he shared with the local newspaper.

The incident led the forty-year-old to immediately approach the supermarket for an explanation. He reported his unfortunate experience to the management of the establishment. However, the individuals in charge of safety and hygiene denied any responsibility. Their defense was that the pies were not prepared on the premises but were supplied by a service provider. The pies are just heated in the ovens of the supermarket’s bakery department. They stated that the issue should be reported to the Pasquier company, the supplier of the pie in this specific case.

When our colleagues from South West reached out to the company for their comments, they did not respond to the queries. As for Lilian, he was refunded the price of the pie and was also provided with a 10-euro voucher for the supermarket. However, he feels that this commercial gesture does not adequately compensate for the distress he experienced due to the incident.
