Massive Fire at Visakhapatnam Harbour Devours 23 Fishing Boats, Reducing Them to Ash

In a devastating incident at a harbour in Visakhapatnam, around 23 fishing boats were completely destroyed by a massive fire. The estimated loss from the incident is approximately Rs 30 crore. Fishermen suspect foul play, suggesting that the boats were intentionally set on fire by criminals. There is also suspicion that the fire may have been triggered by a party taking place on one of the boats.

Disturbing visuals from the scene captured firefighters desperately trying to extinguish the flames, while fishermen looked on helplessly as their livelihoods went up in smoke. The situation escalated when some of the boats exploded, presumably due to the fire reaching their fuel tanks, causing panic in the area.

Ananda Reddy, a senior police officer, revealed that the fire broke out around 11:30 pm. He explained, “The presence of cylinders on the boats is causing explosions, so we are urging people to keep their distance. Firefighters are working tirelessly to bring the fire under control.” Reddy also mentioned that the cause of the fire is still under investigation and no casualties have been reported thus far. A case has been filed, and authorities are currently conducting a thorough inquiry.

This incident has left the fishing community in a state of shock and distress, as they now face the daunting task of rebuilding their lives and livelihoods from scratch.
