Organic Farmer, Winemaker, and Large Landowner: A Comprehensive Profile

“Land is a passion of mine,” proclaimed Siegfried Wolf, the ex-chief of Magna and current owner of Steyr Automotive, who joined the KURIER a decade ago.

Back then, Wolf acquired the Fontana Golf Club and Oberwaltersdorf Castle, which spans across 120 hectares. The speculated purchase price was around 24.4 million euros. Over the years, the top executive has amassed an impressive portfolio of properties.

For instance, Wolf recently stood up for his friend Rene Benko on television. Through ES Projekt GmbH & Co KG, he owns an elegant house on Elisabethstrasse in downtown Vienna, a building previously occupied by the ÖBB construction department.

In his hometown of Weikersdorf in Lower Austria, the skilled toolmaker operates a 56-hectare organic farm, where he occasionally drives his Steyr tractor. Lake Wörthersee in Carinthia is home to a large property owned by Wolf. The entrepreneur and his wife Andrea own Reifnitz Castle, constructed around 1898, which includes 110,000 square meters of land and 4.8 hectares of forest. This property was once part of the Magna Group’s portfolio.

Rockspitz, Gradenburg, Lechtalerhof

Wolf has stirred up quite a buzz not just with his business ventures in Russia, but also with his extensive real estate investments in Lech am Arlberg. The Vorarlberger Nachrichten now considers him a major landowner in the region. He owns at least three real estate firms in Lechtal, all bearing his initials. He has been acquiring older tourism properties in particular. He reportedly bought the Rockspitz house, which has holiday apartments, many years ago. Three years ago, he and his wife purchased the Hotel-Pension Gradenburg (20 rooms) for 10.75 million euros. Rumors suggest he has bought several local apartments. At the end of 2022 or the start of 2023, Wolf purchased the Lechtalerhof through SW Lechtal 2 Immobilien GmbH for 7.25 million euros, as per the land register.

Building areas in Lech

Interestingly, the building itself only accounted for 310,900 euros of the purchase price, while the majority, 6.939 million euros, was allocated for building land. The total area covers 4478 square meters.

According to KURIER, in November 2022, Wolf also bought a 14-hectare farm in Biberwier in the Reutte district, featuring six fish breeding ponds.

Additionally, he joined forces with two partners to invest in the renowned sports and fashion house, Strolz, in Lech. SW Lechtal 4 Immobilien GmbH, a company owned by Wolf and his wife, was created through a split from Strolz GmbH. The specifics about the properties included in this deal are yet to be disclosed. Wolf has also ventured into winemaking. In Steinbach, near Gamlitz in southern Styria, he operates the approximately 30-hectare Domaine Wolf with two renowned winemakers. Domaine Wolf also owns 16 hectares of vineyards in the red wine region of Deutschkreutz, Central Burgenland.
