Kolkata is buzzing with excitement as Pakistani woman Javeria Khanum, who came to the city to marry her love Sameer Khan, is overwhelmed by the warm hospitality of the people. Khanum is eager to indulge in the local street food delicacy, “phuchka”, which is Kolkata’s version of “pani puri”.

Sameer Khan expressed his relief and happiness as his fiancée is being embraced by the people of Kolkata. He mentioned that Khanum feels at home with the extended family, neighbors, and even strangers showing her affection. Since their arrival from Amritsar to Kolkata, they have received a flood of congratulatory phone calls and visits.

Javeria Khanum crossed over from Karachi to the Indian side at Attari in Amritsar district, where she was welcomed by Sameer Khan and his family with the beats of a traditional drum, “dhol”, on December 5.

Apart from enjoying the famous “phuchka” together, Sameer Khan plans to take his bride-to-be to Park Street, where he can introduce her to his favorite eateries. He is also curious to see her reaction to Kolkata’s famous biryani.

Before embarking on their exploration of the city, the couple wants to take a few days off from their work routine to spend quality time with family and close friends. Sameer Khan is confident that Javeria will fall in love with his city as she has already started to appreciate it.

The wedding is scheduled for January 2024, and Sameer Khan expects friends from various countries, including Germany, Africa, Spain, and the USA, to attend the celebration.

Javeria Khanum had previously faced challenges in obtaining a visa but was granted a 45-day visa for this visit. Sameer Khan expressed his gratitude to the central government for their assistance.

The couple is eagerly awaiting their wedding and the start of their new life together.
