Rahul Gandhi Meets BJP MP Varun Gandhi at Kedarnath: Report

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his cousin Varun Gandhi, a BJP MP from Uttar Pradesh, had a brief meeting at the Kedarnath temple on Tuesday where both had gone to offer prayers, according to sources. The meeting between the cousins, who are rarely seen together in public, has sparked speculation about Varun Gandhi’s political future.

Varun Gandhi, the son of Sanjay and Maneka Gandhi, has been absent from important BJP meetings in recent months. His comments on important issues, including the now-repealed farm laws, have sometimes contradicted the party’s stance.

Sources told PTI that the Gandhis met briefly outside the temple and exchanged pleasantries. The meeting was described as “very short” and “warm”. Rahul Gandhi was reportedly delighted to meet Varun’s daughter. Although the cousins do not often meet, they have maintained a good and civil relationship.

The sources also clarified that the meeting did not involve any political discussions.

During a press conference last year, Rahul Gandhi was asked about the possibility of Varun Gandhi joining the Congress. He responded by saying that while anyone was welcome, Varun had embraced the ideology of the BJP/RSS, which the Congress was fighting against.
