The Whoop Wearable Receives Major Upgrade: Introducing an AI Fitness Coach

Whoop has developed an AI coach that utilizes GPT4, an advanced generative AI system from OpenAI, to assist individuals in achieving their health goals. The coach utilizes the biometric data collected by Whoop Bands to provide personalized fitness advice and recommendations.

According to Whoop, their AI coach is the first of its kind available in a fitness wearable. Unlike other wearables on the market, it employs AI to answer inquiries and offer customized guidance within its app.

Will Ahmed, Whoop’s founder and CEO, explained that the AI coach tailors its responses based on the unique data of each member, ensuring that the recommendations provided are suitable for their individual goals.

The Whoop Coach offers on-demand answers related to training queries. The solutions provided are tailored to the user’s data and goals. During beta testing, I found the feature to be unobtrusive but informative. It can be accessed by clicking on the “Chat with your Whoop Coach” option on the home page.

The app appeared to provide accurate information, similar to the advice given on CNET. A comprehensive review of the testing process will be published soon.

In addition to answering questions, Whoop claims that their AI coach can also provide training plans and recommendations based on strain, sleep, and recovery data. It can also enhance users’ understanding of how Whoop functions and interpret their performance data. Furthermore, it can analyze data to address queries like “Why am I tired today?” and provide insights on how individuals compare to other Whoop members.

Whoop ensures round-the-clock membership support for their users.

Privacy is a significant concern when it comes to AI interactions. However, Whoop Coach’s privacy disclosure was reassuring. Their Large Language Model (LLM) partner follows a “Zero-Retention/Zero Training Policy,” meaning that they do not store or retain users’ anonymized Whoop data. Additionally, the data cannot be used to train any LLM algorithms or technology. This privacy statement was confirmed by Will Ahmed.

It is important to note that using the Whoop Coach is not mandatory to access the full range of features offered by Whoop. Users have the option to disable the interactive coach in the app settings.
