US Hospital Security Guard Arrested for Allegedly Engaging in Sexual Activity with Deceased Patient

A security guard working at a hospital in the United States has been arrested for allegedly engaging in sexual activity with the dead body of a 79-year-old woman. The incident occurred last month at the Banner University Medical Center morgue in Phoenix, Arizona. The suspect, identified as 46-year-old Randall Bird, was charged with multiple offenses after an investigation was launched by the police.

According to reports from the New York Post, the deceased woman’s body arrived at the morgue on October 22, where Bird was responsible for transporting the bodies and placing them in the freezer. However, court documents revealed that two witnesses noticed Bird in a suspicious state on that day. They observed him with his belt off, zipper down, and his uniform appearing disheveled. The witnesses also described him as sweating profusely and displaying nervous behavior while inside the freezer.

Upon entering the morgue, the witnesses discovered the woman’s body uncovered, lying face down on a gurney with Bird’s belt on top of it. Authorities stated that Bird immediately tried to conceal the body as soon as he noticed the witnesses. He then claimed to have experienced a medical episode, causing him to faint and accidentally grab onto the victim’s body as he fell to the floor.

However, court documents revealed that Bird’s coworkers doubted his explanation and reported the incident to their supervisors. During a subsequent police interview three days later, Bird once again claimed to have experienced a medical episode and had no recollection of the events. However, investigators discovered Bird’s DNA at the scene and identified injuries on the victim’s body.

On Tuesday, Bird was taken into custody and charged with five counts of crimes against a deceased person. The hospital confirmed that he has been terminated from his position as a security guard.
