14-Year-Old Breaks Record as Youngest Contestant to Win Rs 1 Crore on Kaun Banega Crorepati

A 14-year-old boy from Haryana’s Mahendragarh has made history by becoming the youngest contestant to win Rs 1 crore on the popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati. Mayank, a Class 8 student, astounded viewers when he correctly answered the 16th question on the 15th edition of the show, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan.

A promotional video posted by the show’s makers showcases a confident and ambitious Mayank winning the mega prize. In the video, the young contestant declares, “The only thing that matters is your knowledge.” The promo also features Mr. Bachchan asking Mayank’s parents about his exceptional performance, to which his father responds, “He has surpassed his school teachers. He is two steps ahead of them in the classroom.”

Mayank showcased excellent gameplay throughout his journey to the grand prize. He managed to win Rs 3.2 lakh without using any lifelines and utilized his first lifeline for the Rs 12.5 lakh question.

After answering 15 questions effortlessly, Mayank faced the final “Rs 1 crore” question: “Which European Cartographer is credited with creating the map that has the name America to the newly discovered continent?” The options provided were Abraham Ortelius, Geradus Mercator, Giovanni Battista Agnese, and Martin Waldseemüller.

Mayank confidently chose the correct option, Martin Waldseemuller, and secured the Rs 1 crore prize. He also attempted the final question for Rs 7 crore but was unable to answer and decided to quit the game. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar congratulated the young champion through a post on social media.

Expressing his gratitude, Mayank stated that he felt “very fortunate” to showcase his hunger for knowledge on the platform and thanked his parents and host Amitabh Bachchan for their support. He said, “To be the youngest contestant to win such a huge amount is a moment of pride for me and my family. We are big fans of the show and Bachchan Sir! I would also take this opportunity to thank my parents for their consistent guidance that helped me to play well and achieve the 1 crore feat.”
