15-Day Bank Closure in November, Featuring Two Extended Weekends and Festivals

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has recently released the list of bank holidays for the month of November. According to the RBI holiday calendar, there will be a total of 15 bank holidays in the month, including all Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays.

The RBI prepares a list of holidays for every month, categorized under Negotiable Instruments Act, Holiday, Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday, and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.

In addition to Sundays and Saturdays, banks will also remain closed on several regional festivals such as Karva Chauth and Deepawali.

However, it is important to note that the bank holidays may vary from state to state and from bank to bank. For example, on November 1, banks in Karnataka, Manipur, and Himachal Pradesh will be closed due to Kannada Rajyothsava/Kut/Karwa Chauth.

Similarly, on November 10, banks in Agartala, Dehradun, Gangtok, Imphal, Kanpur, and Lucknow will remain shut for the Wangala Festival.

Most Indian states will also have a long weekend holiday from November 11-14.

On November 20, banks in Bihar and Chhatisgarh will be closed for the Chhath festival.

On November 23, banks in Uttarakhand and Manipur will be closed for Seng Kutsnem/Egaas-Bagwaal.

Another long weekend is expected from November 25-27 due to the 4th Saturday, Sunday, and Guru Nanak Jayanti/Karthika Purnima/Rahas Purnima.

Lastly, banks in Karnataka will remain closed on November 30 for Kanakadasa Jayanthi.

It is advisable to plan any bank-related work accordingly. However, it’s worth mentioning that facilities like online banking and UPI will not be affected during these holidays, despite the physical branches being closed.
