5.6 Magnitude Earthquake in Nepal Causes Earthquake Tremors in Delhi and Neighbouring Areas

Strong tremors shook Delhi and nearby cities on Monday afternoon as Nepal experienced another earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6. This was the second quake to hit Nepal in just three days. The National Centre for Seismology identified the epicentre of the quake as 233 kilometres north of Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh.

The tremors caused panic among the residents, particularly in Delhi and the National Capital Region, where people reported strong shaking of desks and furniture. Videos shared on social media showed individuals hurriedly evacuating residential buildings.

Nepal had already suffered from a devastating earthquake last Friday, measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale, which claimed the lives of at least 157 people. This recent earthquake was the most severe seismic activity the country had experienced since 2015. Nepal is located in one of the world’s most active tectonic zones, making it highly susceptible to earthquakes.

The situation is currently developing, and further updates are awaited.
