Rap Mogul Sean Combs Faces Additional Sexual Assault Lawsuits in New York
Sean Combs, also known as “Diddy,” is facing more sexual assault claims in New York. This comes just a week after he and R&B singer Cassie settled a lawsuit accusing him of physical abuse and rape. The new lawsuits have been filed under the New York Adult Survivors Act, which allowed for sexual assault claims to be filed within a one-year window.
The law was specifically designed to address cases where the assaults occurred too long ago to be litigated. Other high-profile figures, including US actor Jamie Foxx, Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose, and New York City Mayor Eric Adams, are also facing claims under this law, as it expired on Friday.
One of the lawsuits, filed by Joi Dickerson-Neal, alleges that she was drugged, sexually assaulted, and abused by Sean Combs in 1992. She further claims that he filmed and distributed the acts as “revenge porn.” Dickerson-Neal is seeking a jury trial and compensation.
Another complaint, filed by an anonymous “Jane Doe,” accuses Combs and music collaborator Aaron Hall of raping her during a party in 1990 or 1991, according to Rolling Stone magazine. However, the court filing for this complaint was not accessible on the New York court’s website due to corrections needed.
Shortly after the filing of the second complaint, the parties involved announced that they had reached an amicable resolution, although the details of the settlement were not disclosed.
It is worth noting that former US president Donald Trump was also sued under the Adult Survivors Act by former magazine columnist E. Jean Carroll. In May, a jury found Trump liable for sexual abuse and awarded Carroll $2 million, along with nearly $3 million for defamation.
