Ashok Gehlot expresses unwavering confidence in securing victory for Rajasthan

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot took a jab at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, criticizing his speeches for lacking substance. After casting his vote in Sardarpura, Gehlot expressed confidence in the Congress party’s victory and predicted that they will return to power in the state. Currently, voting is underway for 199 assembly constituencies in Rajasthan.

Gehlot addressed reporters after casting his vote and stated, “There is no substance in Modi ji’s speeches. This is the state assembly election. This is not Modi Ji’s election. We will stay here. We will talk about development.” He further added, “Congress will repeat government in Rajasthan…After today, they (the BJP) will not be visible from now on, and the results will be declared. They will next come after five years.”

Gehlot also emphasized the credibility of the seven guarantees promised by the Congress party. Meanwhile, his son Vaibhav Gehlot, who also cast his vote in Sardarpura, expressed his belief that Congress will secure a majority in the state. He stated, “BJP is nervous as they know that they will lose in the state…”

Addressing allegations against him in a case, Vaibhav Gehlot dismissed them as fabricated. He said, “These are fabricated things. Fabricated Diary. God knows best about the diary and these allegations. I do not answer to these things.”

The ruling Congress party aims to secure another term, while the BJP seeks to replace the Ashok Gehlot government, relying on the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Voting began in 199 out of 200 assembly seats in Rajasthan on Saturday, with the exception of Karanpur constituency due to the passing of Congress candidate Gurmeet Singh Koonar. Polling started at 7 am and will continue until 6 pm.

Adequate security measures have been implemented to ensure peaceful and fair elections, according to a poll official. The counting of votes will take place on December 3. In the previous election in 2018, the Congress won 99 seats, while the BJP won 73. Gehlot assumed the position of Chief Minister with the support of BSP MLAs and independents.
