Exit polls suggest a hung assembly in the Mizoram assembly election, with no clear winner emerging. According to the initial exit polls by Jan Ki Baat, the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) is projected to win anywhere between 15 and 25 seats out of the 40-member assembly, followed by Chief Minister Zoramthanga’s Mizo National Front (MNF) with 10 to 14 seats. However, India TV-CNX exit polls show MNF winning 14-18 seats, ZPM 12-16, and Congress 8-10. ABP News-C Voter gives MNF 15-21 seats and ZPM 12-18 seats, with Congress trailing behind with 2-8 seats. Times Now-ETG exit polls indicate MNF winning 14-18 seats, ZPM winning 10-14 seats, and Congress securing 9-13 seats. Meanwhile, Republic TV-Matrize exit polls predict MNF winning 17-22 seats, ZPM 7-12 seats, and Congress 7-10 seats. The exit polls also suggest that the BJP may secure a maximum of two seats. These numbers indicate a close contest or the absence of a clear winner, raising the possibility of alliance formation and a hung assembly. It is important to note that exit polls have a history of being inaccurate. The polling for the Mizoram assembly took place on November 7, with a high turnout of over 80% among the 8.57 lakh voters. Mizoram’s population is predominantly Christian, with Christians constituting more than 87% of the state’s population according to the 2011 census. Despite the exit poll results, Chief Minister Zoramthanga remains confident that there will not be a hung assembly and that his party, MNF, will form the government again.
