Blinken Accuses Hamas for Humanitarian Pause Termination

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has stated that the pause in the Israel-Hamas conflict ended because of Hamas, as the terror group failed to uphold its commitments. Speaking at Dubai airport, Blinken emphasized the importance of Israel protecting civilians and providing humanitarian assistance. He pointed out that Hamas broke its commitments by carrying out a terrorist attack in Jerusalem and firing rockets before the pause ended. Blinken reaffirmed US support for peace in the region and expressed the focus on securing the release of Israeli hostages. The statement comes as the truce between Israel and Hamas expired after seven days. Israel and Hamas resumed their conflict in the Gaza Strip, with Israeli jets striking Hamas targets. Prior to this, Blinken met with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah to address the situation. The visit took place against the backdrop of increased Israeli settler violence following the October 7 attack.
