Irfan Pathan’s Remarkable Clarity in Addressing the Gautam Gambhir-Sreesanth Controversy

Former Indian cricketers Gautam Gambhir and S Sreesanth were caught in a heated on-field argument during their Legends League Cricket (LLC) match on Wednesday. Both players were part of the Indian cricket team’s victorious campaigns in the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup. The spat between Gambhir and Sreesanth has drawn the attention of their former teammates.

Gambhir took to social media to share an old picture of himself with the caption, “Smile when the world is all about attention!” Ex-India all-rounder Irfan Pathan responded to the photo, saying, “Smile is the best answer, brother.”

Sreesanth alleged that Gambhir called him a “fixer” during their altercation. The incident occurred during an Eliminator match between the Indian Capitals and the Gujarat Giants. The umpires had to intervene and separate the two players.

“He kept on calling me ‘fixer fixer, you are a fixer, **** off you fixer’ on live television on the centre wicket,” Sreesanth revealed during a live session on Instagram. “I just said ‘what are you saying’ and kept laughing sarcastically. He also spoke to the umpires using the same language when they tried to control him.”

Sreesanth had previously been handed a life ban by the BCCI’s disciplinary committee for his alleged involvement in the IPL 2013 spot-fixing scandal. However, the ban was later reduced to seven years by the Supreme Court of India.

“I didn’t use any bad words. Please support the truth. He has been doing this with a lot of people. I have no idea why he started it. I’m thinking of leaving it here, but his people are trying to save him. I request you all to not fall for extra paid PR work,” Sreesanth added.

In response to Sreesanth’s live session, Gambhir posted a picture of himself in the Indian jersey with a smile, along with the caption, “Smile when the world is all about attention!” During another Instagram live video after the match, Sreesanth called Gambhir “Mr Fighter” and accused him of disrespecting senior players.

This is not the first time Gambhir has been involved in an on-field altercation. He has previously had fiery exchanges with Virat Kohli during the IPL, including earlier this year when Royal Challengers Bangalore faced the Lucknow Super Giants. Gambhir was the mentor of the Super Giants at the time.

The argument between Gambhir and Sreesanth has sparked discussions among cricket fans, with their former teammates also weighing in on the matter.
