The Estonian Ministry of Defense has recently made an announcement regarding the delivery of a fresh batch of Blue Spear sea-to-sea missiles. These high-tech missiles are a product of the Israeli state defense corporation, Aviation Industry. This significant advancement is a clear indication of the strengthening defense capabilities of the Estonian navy.
The Blue Spear missiles are the fifth generation of the Gabriel anti-ship missile series. They come packed with some exceptional features that make them stand out in their category. These missiles are capable of covering a distance of up to 200 kilometers. They are equipped with two distinct guidance systems to ensure accuracy in hitting the target. Moreover, they also have electronic warfare capabilities which further enhance their effectiveness in the battlefield scenario.
This delivery marks Estonia as the third country to have its fleet equipped with these new missiles. Prior to this, the navies of Israel and Finland had received the Blue Spears. With this new addition, the fleets of Estonia and Finland, both of which control the exit from the Gulf of Finland, will have the Blue Spear missiles in their arsenal. This will significantly enhance their control over the region.
In addition to Estonia, Finland, and Israel, plans are underway to have the Blue Spear missiles installed in the Singapore Navy’s Formidable class frigates. This depicts the growing global acceptance and demand for these highly advanced missiles.
