Russia Downs as Many as 77 Ukrainian Drones in Past 24 Hours

The Russian Ministry of Defense revealed on Sunday that their defense systems have successfully intercepted and destroyed a significant number of drones, specifically 77, which were deployed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the past 24 hours. These drones were aimed at various settlements that are presently under Russian control.

To provide more details, the Russian forces managed to neutralize these airborne threats in several settlements including Novokrasnyanka and Golikovo, which are situated in Lugansk. Similarly, drones were also shot down in Raigorodka and Troitskoye, both located in the province of Amur. Other areas where the defense systems proved effective include Sladkaya Balka in Rostov and the region of Chernomorivka in Jershon.

In addition to the drones, the Russian Ministry of Defense added that their air defense systems have also taken down as many as six HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems in the past 24 hours. This information was reported by the TASS news agency, a reliable source of news in Russia.

Earlier on Sunday, Russian authorities reported another attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The attack involved the deployment of six drones over the Belgorod region and the Black Sea, which is a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict.

The governor of the Belgorod region, Viacheslav Gladkov, shared on his Telegram profile that more than 10 Ukrainian drones have targeted Belgorod in the last 24 hours. He also revealed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine fired approximately 30 projectiles at several settlements in the region.

These recent attacks coincide with the weekend commemorating the second anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which happened on February 24, 2022. It’s also a week after Ukrainian troops decided to withdraw from Avdiivka, one of the main battlegrounds of this war, in conjunction with the disputed front in Kupiansk.
